Save, Share and Back Up Plans

Save running plans in your browser, share a numerical plan link, and export or restore a JSON backup. Learn what each option keeps.

Save a plan in this browser

Use Save on this device after checking the current plan. Give the entry a name that identifies its distance and target. The local collection holds up to 20 plans and supports opening, renaming and deleting entries. In the comparison workspace, Save Plan 1 saves only the first plan, not the whole comparison. A save is tied to this browser profile; it does not create an account or a cloud copy.

If the collection is full, remove an entry before saving another. If browser storage is unavailable, keep working with the tool and export the result you need. When stored data cannot be read safely, the tool reports the problem rather than silently replacing the collection with an empty one. Clearing saved data is an explicit action.

Choose Share plan to create a link when you are ready to share. The link stores a versioned set of numerical parameters for one plan in its fragment. In the comparison workspace, Share Plan 1 includes only the first plan; CSV retains all comparison columns. Opening that link can restore the supported plan values without creating a separate public page for the combination.

What is and is not included in a share link
FieldIncluded?Meaning
VersionYesThe parameter format version.
DistanceYesThe full distance in millimetres.
Target timeYesThe duration in milliseconds.
Split intervalYesThe regular marker distance.
Extra markersYesAdditional marker distances, such as halfway.
First-half time shareYesThe chosen two-half allocation.
Band title and noteNoCustom text remains outside the link.
Saved-plan nameNoThe local collection label is not shared.
Display unit preferenceNoThe receiving browser retains its own unit preference.

For example, a 10 km / 50:00 plan can share the values 10,000,000 mm and 3,000,000 ms with a 1,000,000 mm interval and a halfway marker at 5,000,000 mm. A title such as “Sample reference” and a note such as “Check the finish” are excluded. Anyone you give the link to can read the numerical settings it contains.

This fragment lists only the version, distance, time, interval, allocation and extra marker. The text “Sample reference” and “Check the finish” does not occur in it. The page address before the fragment identifies the tool; no new content route is created.

Export a record of saved plans

Export saved plans creates a JSON file containing the saved entries. Each entry has an ID, name, numerical plan, optional print profile and creation/update timestamps. A print profile can contain a custom title and note, so review the file before sharing it with someone else.

The table shows the fields to look for in an exported entry. IDs and timestamps come from the actual save, rather than a prefilled publication date. The export wrapper also contains schemaVersion, exportedAt and the plans array.

A saved entry and a share link serve different purposes
RecordTypical contentsPurpose
Saved-plan JSONName, plan, optional print profile and timestampsA separate record of the local collection.
Parameter linkSupported numerical plan parameters onlyReopen the mathematical plan from a URL.
PDF or SVGThe printable layout and chosen visible textKeep or print the finished reference.

To restore the collection in this or another browser, open Save on this device and choose the exported JSON under Restore a JSON backup. The whole file is checked before any plans are added. Existing IDs keep their local values, including local renames; new IDs are added. If the combined collection would exceed 20 plans, remove enough local entries and try again. Invalid files leave the collection unchanged. If saved data is unreadable, use Clear saved plans and confirm removal before restoring your backup. This removes the saved collection while keeping your current calculation and preferences.

Understand what clearing data changes

Clearing the site’s saved plans removes the local collection. Clearing browser site data can also remove preferences such as theme or units. Downloaded files remain wherever your browser saved them; clearing site storage does not manage those files. Another browser profile or device has its own separate storage.
